About the Recipe
The story: We introduced this recipe at one of our cooking shows. Everyone loved it...and then afterwards we had a group of ladies head out to the Two Brother's Roundhouse, in Aurora, IL for some after dinner drinks and dancing. Legend has it that each of them received complaints from their male dance partners notifying them of their garlic breath. One even recommended she go brush her teeth. The moral of the story is as simple as our slogan - If everyone had Garlic Breath, no one would be offended! Kissometer level: Do not go dancing afterwards at Two Brothers Roundhouse. Your dance partner will tell you to brush your teeth, even though you just met.
Ingredients
Ingredients
½ lb Garlic Breath Farm’s certified organic Garlic ScapesÂ
1/2 cup pine nuts (Sharon tip: use walnuts instead, as they are much cheaper and high in Omega-3’s)
1/4 cup olive oil
1 cup organic basil
1/4 cup parmesan cheese (Sharon tip: Make this recipe vegan by selecting a vegan parmesan cheese. Amazon sells a GoVeggie brand, it if you cannot find in your grocery store.)
1 tsp salt
1 pint red cherry tomatoes
1 box spaghetti noodles
1/2 cup pasta water (reserve left over water after cooking the pasta).
Preparation
Directions
Boil water for pasta (reserve 1/2 cup of water discard).
Prepare pesto by using a high speed blender to grind nuts, olive oil and Garlic Scapes.
Add basil, parmesan and salt to blender until mixed well (forms a paste).
Drain pasta, reserving 1/2 cup.
Add pesto and 1/2 cup reserved pasta water to pasta. This helps to thin out the pesto a bit. Mix well.
Add chopped tomatoes and mix evenly.
